About the organisers

Niyazi Bulut and Murat Kılıç first met at PCFM in 2018. A conversation at that first meeting marked the beginning of a collaboration that would extend well beyond PCFM.

In June 2027, they will bring PCFM to Ohrid for its tenth edition. Their research is connected by a shared curiosity about how molecules interact and react. Niyazi explores quantum reaction dynamics, using time-dependent wave-packet methods to understand molecular collisions and chemical reactions. Murat studies chemical and biological processes through quantum chemistry, molecular simulations and multiscale modelling, with a particular interest in electron transfer and catalysis.

In June 2024, they jointly chaired the organising committee of the 17th Quantum Reactive Scattering Workshop at Yıldız Technical University in Istanbul. The meeting brought together 56 invited speakers from 16 countries.

QRS is an independent international workshop series that has been held in different cities since 1990. Although separate from PCFM, organising QRS 2024 gave Niyazi and Murat the chance to turn their shared ideas about scientific meetings into something tangible.

For PCFM 2027, they hope to create the same welcoming atmosphere in Ohrid: a place for good science, open discussion and conversations that continue long after the meeting ends.
