Do you need a visa to attend PCFM 2027?

General information
Entering with a Schengen visa or an EU residence permit
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, citizens of countries that normally need a visa may enter North Macedonia without one, for up to 15 days per entry (no more than 90 days in any 180-day period), if they hold:
- a valid multiple-entry Schengen visa (type C) that is valid for at least 5 days beyond the end of the planned stay, or
- a valid temporary or permanent residence permit of an EU member state or a Schengen country.
Check that your visa or permit meets these conditions on the date you travel.

Holders of US, UK or Canadian visas
A temporary exemption for holders of valid multiple-entry visas of the United States, the United Kingdom or Canada applies from 1 January to 31 December 2026. It has not yet been confirmed for 2027, so it does not apply to PCFM 2027 at present. We will update this page if the Ministry extends it.

How to apply for a visa
- Apply in person at the competent (resident or non-resident) diplomatic or consular mission of North Macedonia.
- Apply no earlier than six months and no later than 15 days before the start of your trip.
- Bring a travel document valid at least three months beyond the visa, issued within the last 10 years, with at least two blank pages; one photograph (35×45 mm); travel medical insurance covering your whole stay; proof that the fee is paid; and documents showing the purpose of the visit, accommodation, means of subsistence and your return or onward travel.

Invitation and visa documentation from PCFM 2027
PCFM 2027 can confirm accepted scientific contributions and conference participation. Where formal visa invitation documentation is required, the Secretariat will coordinate with the appropriate host institution in North Macedonia, subject to the applicable requirements.
Under the Ministry's rules, an invitation from a legal entity must come from an entity registered in North Macedonia and be certified by a notary public (this does not apply to an invitation from a state administrative body).
Please write to the Secretariat as soon as your abstract is accepted, or as soon as you decide to attend, so that there is time to prepare documents.

If your visa is refused
According to the Ministry, you may appeal within eight days of receiving the decision, in writing (in the Macedonian Cyrillic alphabet), to the State Commission for Decision-Making in Administrative Procedure and Labour Relations Procedure in the Second Instance. An appeal does not delay the decision taking effect.
